Traveling Attire for Business

When you are traveling by air for business reasons, it is always a good idea to wear clothing on the plane that you will be able to wear at the business office or for the business situation that you will be involved in when you reach your destination. With all of the unexpected delays there are with modern day travel, even if you think that you will have plenty of time to get from the airport to your hotel and then to your meeting, you may not be able to do this if your flight is delayed.

Also, unless you are going somewhere for a long stay, try to bring all of your luggage onto the plane with you.  If this is impossible, at least bring your important papers, computer, toiletries and fresh undergarments with you.

Because the business dress codes vary from one part of our country to another and also from our country to other countries, it would be wise to find out what the policy is at the office or facility where you will be conducting your business and bring appropriate clothing.

On a recent business trip to London, my husband dressed in a dark blue suit, white business shirt and conservative tie while traveling.  As it turned out, he did have time to get to the hotel before his meeting but if there had been a delay in his flight, at least he could have gone directly to the meeting from the airport and been appropriately attired.

The above photo was taken at the Ritz where we had dinner later that day. He apparently had an exhausting meeting because he looks like he is sleeping in this photo!
